Stop ! Before you add another Wardrobe !

I have been telling myself exactly this because I am not in the mode of getting another wardrobe for my home. The reason is simple, I have no more storage space. All my wardrobes whether they are double wardrobe, triple wardrobe, even dressers are full. To make it worst, the cloth hanger is also full.

Although all these storage space are full, inside them are something I never touch for months, at least all of them. What is the big deal ? You may ask !

I believe all home faced with the same issue like me, that is run out of storage space and therefore the next logical answer to that is to add wardrobe. Buying a wardrobe is an easy thing to do, but looking for that extra space for the wardrobe is another. so, you may end up having your wardrobe placed in the living hall, corridor or squeezed in the limited bedroom space.

The question to you : Is Adding a Wardrobe the answer to your storage problem ? Maybe not if you have considered the points below:-

Do an inventory check on each of the wardrobe to determine how many percent of the items inside are “active” items. Active items are clothing that you wear it at least once a week. These are clothing likely wear for your business or office and daily wear.

Do the same inventory check for slow moving item. Slow moving refers to clothing you wear once in 1 – 4 weeks. Example are your favorite clothing you wear for special occasion like dinner function.

Do the same for seasonal items such as winter clothing

Do the same for non-moving items such as old clothing, excess clothing, over or undersized clothing, out-of-fashion clothing etc

Is there any items not supposed to be inside?

Now that you know exactly the inventory of your clothing, they are several things you can do to each the space of your existing wardrobe. But you must give a serious thought for the solutions below:-

Remove items in item 5 and discard them if needed. Chances is if you can leave them in the wardrobe untouch for month or even years, you do not need it. Give away to charity.

For item 4, you need to give some thoughts. Is there any item carry some sentimental value that given you some good memories? The put them aside. For the rest, given away to the charity fully or partially

For item 3 which involved seasonal clothing, instead of putting it in the wardrobe, consider to vacuum packed them. A cacuum packed clothing take up lesser space.

Your wardrobe should be keeping those active and slowing moving clothing only. If space allowed, keep those vacuum packed items. Although there are cases where many of the clothing are active but due to over stock, it became excessive. If this is the case, pull out some quantity and regard them as non-moving item and treat them accordingly.

Keep in mind that you need to have a clear objective before you do this inventory clearance exercise. Your goal is to salvage 30% extra space from your existing wardrobes and other storage areas.

With a twist from your regular two door wardrobe, this has three doors come with extra storage space. It has beautiful and wide range of types, styles and colours. If you’ve not able to decide a three door wardrobe, below are some tips for you.

A three doors or a triple wardrobe provides ample space for your storage either for hand-up cloths or folded apparels. Its design can have separated compartment for your apparels such as sweaters, shorts, tees, tops, skirts and so on.

Furthermore, a bigger storage space three door wardrobe is one big piece of furniture which can fit nicely with other furniture in your bedroom. It gives a balanced feel and save space too instead of having several smaller furniture. If your bedroom design for a woody theme, a triple wardrobe make of pine or oak would compliment your room very well. What more the pine or oak is a long lasting furniture

The two door wardrobe has similar features but lack the advantage of extra space as in the case of a three door wardrobe. There is no doubt it is more expensive but still it worth the money invested with other value added features of a three door wardrobe.

What is a wardrobe – A wardrobe, sometime called an armoire from the French, is an upright standing closet used for storing clothes. This is a newer version of storage method for cloths. The earliest storage method uses a low height cabinet called a chest. The name of wardrobe was then given to a room in which the wall-space was filled with cupboard and lockers.

The invention of wardrobe was derived from the chest for which you have to fold the cloths in order to store it in a chest. As some Apparel requires handing to keep it neat, hence the invention of wardrobe. The biggest differences between the two is the height. For a wardrobe, it has a build in section high enough to allow the hanging of apparel which folding. Then it also build another section for folded or pressed cloths hence the build-in drawers mostly designed to hide behind a wardrobe door.

Wardrobe size – A common decision you need to make is the sixe of the wardrobe you need. The most common sizes are the double and triple wardrobe. From the name, you can figured out the the double wardrobe has two section while the triple wardrobe has three. both of them has a section for hanging apparels as a common feature.
